ACT Training Course – Adaptability and Creativity through Theater

Here we are, sharing a recap of an incredible week in Bansko, Bulgaria, where we had the privilege of hosting ACT – Adaptability and Creativity through Theater training course!

ACT training course Erasmus+, Adaptability and Creativity through Theater

🎭 ACT was a 7-day training course for youth workers to use theater as a tool to cultivate adapting-to-change skills.

Life is a constant adaptation. From changing jobs to starting university or ending a relationship, we are constantly having to say goodbye to things as they were and welcome the new and unexpected.

In the training, we focused on cultivating the skills we need to navigate these moments of transition; and on gaining awareness of our own relationship with change and uncertainty, and on creating a playful and supportive environment to practice embracing the unknown.

Participants explored how they can apply the main methods of theater and embodiment in their work with diverse groups of young people, and in general – in education.

We created a project brochure describing all the working methods and exercises we did during the program. This booklet aims to introduce a toolbox of theater improv, systemic theater, applied theater, and embodiment methods and exercises to build and foster creativity, adaptability, and resilience skills.

Bistra and Paula - ACT training course Erasmus+, Adaptability and Creativity through Theater
✨️ Our two amazing trainers Paula Valero Sancho and Bistra Yakimova prepared a 7-day program of exploration of theater and embodiment tools to cultivate ability to adapt to change and embrace the unknown. ✨️

Day 1 kicked off with spontaneity, setting the tone for an amazing journey into the realms of adaptability and creativity.

Day 2 delved deep into emotional regulation, exploring the entire spectrum of feelings and connecting through improvised approaches.

Day 3 saw us embracing the cold mountain environment with river baths, mountain-top massage chains, hiking, and candlelit meals in Bansko. The warmth of human connection prevailed!

Day 4 was all about moving and dancing – from street dance battles to flamenco lessons during our cultural night. We danced our way into a feeling of adaptability, community, and collaboration.

Day 5 brought on the challenge of embracing fear and failure, turning them into the “Worst Performances Ever” – a unique experience of the ACT Training Course!

Reaching Day 6 marked the beginning of the end, filled with hugs and positive emotions, participant-led workshops, and the creation of infinite and absurd imaginariums.

And on the last day, innovation, tears, partnerships, and love overflowed as we reflected on the life-changing process we shared over the past 7 days in the ACT Adaptability and Creativity through Theater Training Course.

We created a project brochure describing all the working methods and exercises we did during the program. This booklet aims to introduce a toolbox of theater improv, systemic theater, applied theater, and embodiment methods and exercises to build and foster creativity, adaptability, and resilience skills.
